Shane M. Mendenhall is a partner with the law firm of Bolen Robinson & Ellis, LLP, and is admitted to practice in Illinois state courts and the Federal District Courts for the Northern, Central, and Southern Districts of Illinois. A lifelong resident of Decatur, Illinois, Shane received his Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems from Millikin University in 2002. Shane graduated cum laude and earned his Juris Doctorate from Oklahoma City University School of Law in 2008. While attending law school, Shane also earned a certificate in Business Law with a concentration in Financial Services and Commercial Law.
During law school, Shane was a merit scholar and a member of the Phi Delta Phi Honors Fraternity. He also served as the Articles Editor of the Law Review and was awarded the Outstanding Law Review Note Award. His law review article, Payday Loans: The Effects of Predatory Lending on Society and the Need for More State and Federal Regulations, 32 OKLA. CITY U. L. REV. 299 (2007) was selected to be published in the university’s law journal.
Shane has substantial experience representing plaintiffs and defendants in complex litigation, including matters involving commercial law, consumer law, product defects and personal injury. Although Shane has a general practice, representing clients in all areas of the law, he practices primarily in the areas of business law, personal injury and commercial and consumer class action litigation. Shane also regularly represents clients with employment related matters, including workers’ compensation and trust and estate planning. As outside counsel for multiple local corporations, Shane advises business owners and professionals on matters from contract interpretation and the drafting of employment related issues, including assisting corporate clients on issues implicating various state and federal laws and regulations. He has also represented clients, both individually and at the corporate level, in pursuing and defending unfair labor practice charges.
Shane is very active in the community, and is currently serving on the Board of Directors for the Mt. Zion Foundation for Quality Education and as a Village Trustee for the Village of Mt. Zion. He previously served as a Board member for the Macon County Animal Shelter and Millikin University Alumni, and volunteered with the United Way.
Shane has been married 11 years to his beautiful wife, Alison. Together, they have four wonderful children – Emmarie, Brexton, and twins Emberlynn and Brennan. Shane enjoys coaching his two oldest kids’ soccer teams, and spending his free time outside boating, fishing, and hunting.
