Matthew C. Spain is a partner with the law firm of Bolen, Robinson & Ellis, LLP. Matt grew up in Central Illinois and attended high school in Mt. Zion. After having a successful career in business that took him to Missouri, Texas, and California, he returned home in 2012 to practice law.

Matt received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Southern Illinois University – Edwardsville in 2000, graduating cum laude. He earned his Juris Doctorate from Southern Illinois University – Carbondale in 2012.

During law school, Matt served as a member of the Moot Court Board and competed in the National Cultural Heritage Moot Court competition in both 2011 and 2012 He also received the Honorable William Welch Award for Excellence in Labor Law and was selected by the school to serve as a mentor and leader for incoming students during his second and third years of law school. During his final semester, the Honorable A.G. Webber employed Matt as a law clerk in the Macon County Circuit Court.

Before attending law school, Matt was employed as a District Manager in the vehicle services industry. He gained experience as a leader in the industry and successfully negotiated collective bargaining agreements with the Teamsters Union in Houston, San Francisco, and Los Angeles.

Matt joined BRE Law after graduating from law school in 2012. He is admitted to practice law in Illinois State courts and the Central District of Illinois. He is active in the community and a member of the Illinois State and Decatur Bar Associations. In his free time, Matt enjoys the outdoors and spending time on the lake with his wife Jessica, who is also an attorney.
