Courtney received her undergraduate degree in pre-law from Southern Illinois University – Carbondale in 2013. While attending SIU, she interned at the Jackson County Public Defender’s Office where she learned how to defend felony cases for people accused of crimes ranging from petty theft to first degree murder.

Courtney then attended The John Marshall Law School in Chicago. While attending law school, Courtney volunteered at the Domestic Violence Legal Clinic and helped victims of domestic violence obtain emergency and plenary orders of protections. Courtney was also an active volunteer with CASA of Cook County – advocating on behalf of children throughout the Chicagoland area.

Following graduation from law school, Courtney practiced law at a law firm in downtown Chicago which focuses on personal injury law. During that time, Courtney had many successful outcomes for many clients, obtaining total compensation for her clients in excess of $12,000,000. After 5 years of focusing on personal injury, Courtney moved home to Decatur to join BRE Law as a partner.

At BRE Law, Courtney continues to practice personal injury law. She also practices family law and criminal defense.

Courtney is a member of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association and the Illinois State Bar Association. She is licensed to practice law in all Illinois state courts as well as the Northern District of Illinois.
