The History of BRE Law

In July of 2024, BRE Law celebrated 20 years of service to the Macon County area. From a small firm in Decatur in 2004 to six locations across Central IL with 10 practicing attorneys in 2024 is a testament to BRE Law's mission, vision, and values.

Beginning the Firm
Formed in July 2004, BRE Law is the result of a merger and expansion of one of Central Illinois' oldest law firms. Jon D. Robinson, who joined Hull, Campbell & Robinson in 1971, teamed with T.G. Bolen and Christopher M. Ellis, a Decatur native with experience in D.C. and Chicago, to establish the firm.

Additional Expansion
In 2017, former prosecutor Nrupa Patel joined BRE Law, enabling the firm to offer criminal defense services. Additionally, BRE Law merged with the Sullivan law firm of Wood & Mayberry..

2021
Case Resolution
In 2021, Dan L. Flannell joined BRE Law's Sullivan office after a distinguished career as Moultrie County's Resident Circuit Judge and Chief Judge of the 6th Judicial Circuit of Illinois. After retiring from the bench in 2017, Dan served as the Administrator of the City of Sullivan.

Building on Experience
In 2026, John Cannon joined BRE Law bringing over 25 years of experience and strengthening the firm’s personal injury practice. BRE Law also expanded its presence with the opening of a new office in Taylorville, IL continuing its commitment to Central Illinois.

Following rapid growth, Drew Hickey and Matthew Spain joined the firm to expand on BRE Law's offered practice areas.

Strengthening the Path
BRE Law continued to grow by welcoming Andrew Wessler in 2019. In 2020, the firm expanded its footprint by opening an office in Lincoln, Illinois, reinforcing its commitment to serving clients throughout Central Illinois.

In 2024, BRE Law celebrated its 20th anniversary, marking two decades of serving clients across Central Illinois. In 2025, McKensie Meadows joined the firm, continuing BRE Law's continued growth.
